Review

"Outstanding. Written in clear language, with wit and imagination. Baronett takes students through the theory of sound reasoning, types of logics, and logic applications in almost every kind of human discourse. This text is a useful, viable tool for building a bridge between formal logic and real-life situations."--Merle Harton, Everglades University

"The exposition is delightfully clear. The examples are thought-provoking, topical, copious, and well gradated by level of difficulty."--Frank X. Ryan, Kent State University

"Logic is terrific. We have needed a text with this approach [more effective in bridging formal to informal logic and logic to real-life situations] for a long time."--William S. Jamison, University of Alaska Anchorage

"The well-chosen and relevant examples are a major selling point. This book looks terrific."--Aeon Skoble, Bridgewater State University

"The writing style is perfect."--Thompson M. Faller, University of Portland

"The author succeeds brilliantly in presenting the essence of logical reasoning throughout the text as a dynamic, integral part of daily human interaction rather than simply an academic discipline."--Joia Lewis Turner, St. Paul College

Needs an Editor..
By Crusoe
So the book is written (apparently) solely by Stan Baronett and while it is an admirable feat for anyone to write a textbook on their own it leaves room for plenty of errors. As the previous reviewer posted, many of that the examples given incorrect answers and this make it very frustrating when studying for a test. When you spend 80+ dollars on a paperback textbook you expect a high standard to be met and while it does an amazing job describing the information (better than my prof.) It lacks much in providing good examples. (its probably harder than it looks, honestly). Anyways, I'd still recommend the book, good clear info, but be warned about the examples. I just hope the next edition has an editor. 2.5-3.0 stars

I liked it
By Paige
I bought this book for one of my college classes. It's a great book which clearly goes in depth about logic and how to analyze different arguments. It's definitely a dry read and I wouldn't suggest just buying this book on a whim because it can be confusing to understand at points. But overall, I'm pleased with the purchase.

This is the required text for my college course. I like the word definitions in the margins and the step by step process that enables me to understand the material.
