This is a semi-scholarly work that is a bit hard to read for the average reader.
It is sort of well reseached. I was disappointed as it only convers the OT canon and not the new.

The view presented is highly one sided and their is not much discussion of other views.
Certainly not an overly in depth work, but does have some good historical information in it which was useful.
I'd consider this more of an "overview" document than anything as it is lacking significant depth.

I was looking for a lot more historical information, but found it lacking in this department.

This 1877 rendition by Samuel Davidson, D.D., L.L.D., a Congregationist cleric and scholar who as dismissed from his position due to the "liberal ideas" expressed in this and other of his works. Granted it was probably a written as an introduction for fledgling OT scholars mainly because I experienced similar teaching tools from contemporary " old school" professors when I attended seminary at Earlham School of Religion (1999- 2003). By today's standards, it is highly pedantic and has literary usages that fell from favor post industrial revolution. Antiquity aside, it reads like an intro to a survey course because it probably was.

This was a very short story but very charming and sweet. Basically the h is a sensible girl and her marriage is arranged to the second son of a Marquis. The Marquis thinks the h will be a stabilising influence in rakish Harry's life. The h knows it's a mistake but doesn't really see how she can get out of it. The problem is that she is also more attracted to someone else. I won't give spoilers because honestly the book is very short and worth reading

Could have been better

This story could have been great or even a little better if the author had put a bit more personality behind the characters. Also she gives you a brief history of the two womens past in the beginning of the book. Then when the flashback happens it is sudden and takes over half the book. I would have liked some more meat to the two of them getting together and what they did to get where they are now. To me the characters seemed one demensional. The only one I really liked was Cyndi, Danis friend.

Quite Enjoyable!

This book, I believe the writer's debut, is quite enjoyable. The romance is heartfelt, the women very likable and really a very good light read.
Given that McCann seems to have a real sense of good plotting and the right touch for true romance writing, I am really hoping that her next novel shows some improvements, especially in characterization technique.
Characterization doesn't lack -- that's not the problem. I wonder if McCann has screenwriting experience, or perhaps it's just inexperience. When a new character arrives on the page, McCann gives us the entire history of the character, the whole deal, as musings by the character whose point-of-view we're experiencing. After the presentation of the character dialogue ensues and there is no further characterization given. That leads to secondary characters we understand, because we're given their bio when they show up, but who don't grow or change or surprise or delight us as their character emerges over the course of a scene.
If Jeanne McCann can smooth out her characterization technique then I think she'll be a real treat to read in the future. Maybe I sound negative, but the book was good enough that I didn't just stop with "4 stars, enjoyable read." I liked it so much I wanted her next book to be better.

Wonderful story - a delightful read with loads of drama to satisfy any romance reader

This is terrific story that is a complete page turner. The plot was very believable. The story starts present day with the main character flashing back to her college years 20 years earlier and a romance that suddenly and inexplicably ended. The main characters are truly nice people and I was really pulling for them to overcome the past.

I couldn't put the book down until the end. The pace of the story was excellent and kept me completely engaged. I liked how the flashback occurred in the middle third of the book rather than weaving in and out through the story, it was very smooth and easy to follow. By the end of the flashback the characters were real people to me and wonderfully fleshed out.

If you are in the mood to read a wonderful romance about two really great people with quite a bit of heartbreak this is the book for you. My only wish is that the story was 100 pages longer as these characters were so great to read about.

Best book on recording I have ever owned

Mr. Shea's book is the most comprehensive work I have read on this subject. He explains in detail the science and art of studio recording. Because of his lifetime of experience in the field he is uniquely qualified to write on this topic. I highly recommend this book to any aspiring recordists.
